Investigation underway after D.C. police dog is found dead in vehicle

A D.C. police dog was found dead inside a police vehicle on Monday, and the circumstances are being investigated, according to a department spokesman.

The 7-year-old Malinois shepherd named Rocket was found in a marked police vehicle in the 2800 block of New York Avenue NE, police said. The vehicle was secured and idling, according to police.
