Suspected serial burglar arrested after dirt bike chase through cemetery in North Versailles

A man suspected in a series of break-ins in Pittsburgh’s Lawrenceville and Shadyside neighborhoods has been arrested in North Versailles.The arrest of Michael Moffett, 33, of Aliquippa, came after neighbors reported a red dirt bike riding through yards in North Versailles on Tuesday.Police said, after officers pulled Moffett over and told him the dirt bike was not street legal, he took off, leading to a chase through yards, a cemetery and then towards the Woods where police said Moffett crashed and ditched the bike.Police said they lost Moffett at that point and learned the dirt bike had been stolen in Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood during an armed carjacking. Later Tuesday night, police waited for Moffett at a motel they learned he’d been at and again spotted him.Police said Moffett attempted to take off and hide in someone’s yard but he was arrested.Police also said Moffett attempted to give them several fake names during his arrest.As of Wednesday morning, he was being held in the Allegheny County Jail.
