YOU WILL TAKE THE M’S WORTH EXIT BEFORE YOU HAD THE NEVILLE ISLAN BRIDGE. THEN YOU MAKE A LEFT ONTO BLANK FILLED ROAD. YOU WILL MAKE A RIGHT ONTO THE RAMP. AND SEWICKLEY, MAKE THE LEFT ACROSS THE SEWICKLEY BRIDGE. FROM THAT POINT, MAKE A LEFT ONTO SOUTHBOUND 51. HEAD BACK TOWARDS CORAOPOLIS AND AT THAT POINT, TAKE THE RAMP ONTO 79 SOUTH. IT MIGHT ADD ABOUT 25 MINUTES TO YOUR DRIVE. THAT

PennDOT announces southbound bridge closure for Sept. 23-26

The Neville Island Bridge on Interstate 79 will be closed to southbound traffic this weekend due to an ongoing construction project.PennDOT said a full southbound closure will begin at about 9 p.m. Friday and continue through 5 a.m. Monday. It’s the final scheduled closure in a series of four weekend closures.A detour will be in effect. The Neville Island Bridge on Interstate 79 will be closed to southbound traffic this weekend due to an ongoing construction project.

PennDOT said a full southbound closure will begin at about 9 p.m. Friday and continue through 5 a.m. Monday. It’s the final scheduled closure in a series of four weekend closures.

A detour will be in effect. Drivers headed south on I-79 will have to exit at the Route 65 Emsworth/Sewickley interchange (Exit 66).

One northbound lane on the bridge will also be closed during the weekend construction.

Work will include deck and concrete pavement repairs, bridge painting and steel repairs.

Drivers should expect delays.

  • From southbound I-79, exit at Route 65 Emsworth/Sewickley interchange (Exit 66)
  • Turn left onto Glenfield Road
  • Glenfield Road becomes Kilbuck Street
  • Turn right onto ramp to North 65 toward Sewickley
  • From northbound Route 65, turn left onto Sewickley Bridge
  • Turn left onto southbound Route 51 (University Boulevard) toward Coraopolis
  • From southbound Route 51, take ramp to South 79 toward Washington
  • End detour
