OREGON, Ohio — Oregon Fire Department crews are responding to an incident at the BP refinery on Cedar Point Road Tuesday evening.
Large amounts of black smoke, flames and burnoff have been seen coming from the area.
The nature of the incident has not yet been disclosed by officials.
Lucas County Regional Dispatch confirmed that EMS responded to the scene and to reports of injuries. Dispatch was unable to say how many people were potentially hurt or how serious the injuries may be.
The refinery has been running for over 100 years. It can process up to 160,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
