Mich. Legislature needs 5-day notice for pet projects, not 5 hours

The unprecedented $1 billion spending spree on pet projects that the Republican-controlled Michigan Legislature and Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer orchestrated in late June doesn’t contain a “bridge to nowhere.”

But there is $14 million for a ferry to nowhere — Lake Michigan’s Beaver Island — and yet absolutely no disclosure of who asked for this money to subsidize a private business.
