A 14-year-old girl was shot early Sunday in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, police said. This marks the third child to be shot in Chicago in the last few days.
Shots were fired while the girl was in a vehicle in the 4400 block of South Wood Street at approximately 4 a.m. The Chicago Fire Department transported the girl to Comers Children’s Hospital in good condition with a gunshot wound to the right arm.
No one had been arrested as of Sunday morning and detectives are investigating, according to police.
The 14-year-old is at least the 15th child shot in Chicago in the last month. A 3-year-old and a 10-year-old were shot in separate attacks on the city’s West and South sides late Friday.
