Boy, around 3, pulled from Lake Michigan near Navy Pier

First responders pulled a young boy from Lake Michigan’s waters at Navy Pier on Monday afternoon, a Fire Department spokesperson said.

The Fire Department was called to rescue the boy around 1:25 p.m., said Chicago Fire Department spokesperson Larry Merritt.

After first responders took him out of the water, paramedics transported the child to Lurie Children’s Hospital in critical condition, he said.

The boy is around 3 years old, Merritt said. His pulse had been detected after he was taken out of the water.

What led to the boy needing to be rescued remains unclear.

This is a developing story. Check back for more updates.
